Note:
Quite a bit of detail is missing from this photograph that is present in
the original painting.
The
Pigeon Forge - Gatlinburg area in northeast Tennessee has become a
vacation Mecca for many people. Located in the Great Smoky Mountains, the
area offers everything from peaceful streams to fantastic shopping.
In
the middle of Pigeon Forge is an old mill that is still in operation.
Beside it stands a fairly new restaurant bearing the same name. When
I was younger, I remember the mill as a quieter place. Built in 1830, the
mill sits on the banks of the Little Pigeon River (named for the Pigeons
who were attracted to the river).
